A better opened calendar date-picker

Suggesting a small opened calendar for easy date-picking, in addition to the current date-picker input box. This will also be more mobile-friendly in certain contexts.
Currently, the closely equivelent is the "Monthview In Page" variant

In the attached file are suggestions to make this "Monthview In Page" work better as an opened datepicker, as its current form has limitations and cannot fully replace the date-picker input box.

Not included but related to this suggestion is better status indications than the current design.
